35th Annual Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists Conference October 27 – 30, 2013 Hosted by NM DPS Forensic Laboratories. Greetings from New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, The New Mexico Department of Public Safety Forensic Laboratory Bureau has the distinct honor of hosting the 35th Annual Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (SWAFS) Conference, October 27 - 30, 2013, at the Eldorado Hotel and Spa located in the enchanting city of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

 

We are pleased to invite you to attend this exceptional conference. The SWAFS conference is a unique opportunity to exchange information among forensic science practitioners and industry leaders to improve techniques, encourage research, and keep its members and the forensic science community apprised of the latest methods and discoveries in the field of forensic science.

 

The 2013 SWAFS conference is focused on enabling the forensic community to grow and strive for excellence, and when you attend the SWAFS 35th Annual Conference, you will enhance your professional experience through strengthening your knowledge of new and emerging techniques, while building strong professional networks. Workshops are being offered in a wide array of forensic disciplines providing a broad range of training opportunities.

 

Tentative Workshop Topics Include: Measurement of Uncertainty, LC/MS ICP, GC/MS Basics and Method Building, Microscopy, Contemporary Issues in Drunk Driving and Driving Under the Effects of Drugs, Explosives Analysis, FBI ULW Training including Next Generation Identification Increment 3, DNA Relationship Statistics, The Body Farm, Skeletal Remains, Courtroom, Ethics, and ISO 17025 Q & A. The ABC exam will also be offered. In addition to workshops, a secret special event is planned so stay tuned!
